BACKGROUND
In 2023, the City Council approved the creation of an ad hoc committee to assist with addressing homelessness in Westminster. Vice Mayor NamQuan Nguyen and Councilwoman Amy Phan West serve as the ad hoc committee members and have since met with the City’s internal team, which consists of Police Chief Darin Lenyi, other members of the Westminster Police Department and its Homeless Liaison Unit.
This report covers the year end activity that took place in 2023 (Attachments 1).
FISCAL IMPACT
No budget appropriation is being requested for this action.
LEGAL REVIEW
The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.
CONCLUSION
While the year-end report does not adequately represent the magnitude of efforts and resources required to address homeless issues, this report does provide a snapshot of key data for 2023. No action is required except to receive and file this report.
