Adopt a Resolution entitled, “A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR NO PARKING OR STOPPING AT A CERTAIN LOCATION ON THE EAST SIDE ON BROOKHURST STREET, SOUTH OF BOLSA AVENUE.”

BACKGROUND
Staff identified a need for parking restrictions on the east side of Brookhurst Street, south of Bolsa Avenue. Brookhurst Street, between Bolsa Avenue and the intersection of Greenstone Lane, is 104-feet wide with three travel lanes in each direction. Brookhurst Street includes on-street parking on both sides and a two-way left-turn center lane.
The northbound direction, approaching Bolsa Avenue, is tapered down to provide for a center median, two left-turn lanes, and three through lanes with the number three through lane (curb lane) being 13-feet wide. The City of Westminster’s Standard Plans require a travel lane with on-street parking to be a minimum of 18 feet wide. The subject location is not in compliance with the City’s standard plans.
Staff’s recommendation was to approve the installation of 295 feet of parking restrictions on the east side of Brookhurst Street, south of Bolsa Avenue.
Staff presented this item at the Traffic Commission’s meeting on February 27, 2024.
Local residents and businesses were notified of the proposed parking restrictions and no one spoke on the subject parking restrictions.
Vice Chairman Pham moved to approve staff’s recommendation for the installation of 295 feet of parking restrictions on the east side of Brookhurst Street, south of Bolsa Avenue; seconded by Chairman K. Nguyen.
The motion was carried by a 3-0 vote with Commissioners Summers and A. Nguyen being absent.

LEGAL REVIEW
The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.
CONCLUSION
The installation of 295 feet of parking restrictions on the east side of Brookhurst Street, south of Bolsa Avenue, would bring the subject area in compliance with the City’s Standard Plans. The businesses and apartment complexes in the area have sufficient on-site parking.
