RECOMMENDED ACTION
Recommendation
A. Appoint one member (Council Member NamQuan Nguyen’s appointee) to the Westminster Community Foundation to fill the unscheduled vacancy for a term ending January 2025; and
B. Appoint one member (Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen’s appointee) to the Westminster Community Foundation to fill the unscheduled vacancy for a term ending January 2026.

BACKGROUND
At the City Council meeting on May 24, 2023, the Mayor and City Council appointed members to serve on the Westminster Community Foundation. The Mayor appointed three members (one with a term ending January 2025 and two with a term ending January 2026), while the other council members each appointed two members (one with a term ending January 2025 and one with a term ending January 2026).
Effective March 3, 2024, Foundation Board Member Dao Tran (Council Member Nguyen’s appointee) resigned from the Foundation, leaving one unscheduled vacancy with a term ending January 2025.
Effective April 23, 2024, Foundation Board Member Thomas Tran (Mayor Nguyen’s appointee) resigned from the Foundation, leaving one unscheduled vacancy with a term ending January 2026.
This item is being presented to provide Mayor Nguyen and Council Member Nguyen the opportunity to make an appointment to fill the unscheduled vacancies.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no costs incurred by the City for appointing members to the Westminster Community Foundation Board.
LEGAL REVIEW
The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.
CONCLUSION
Mayor Nguyen and Council Member Nguyen may each appoint one member to the Westminster Community Foundation Board to fill the unscheduled vacancies.
