RECOMMENDED ACTION
Recommendation
Accept the subject project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder’s Office.

BACKGROUND
The subject project was awarded by the Mayor and City Council on June 8, 2022. The contract has been satisfactorily completed by Western State Builders, Inc. The original contract amount was $471,760.96 and the final contract was $496,642.62. The additional amount is for the rise in prices for materials and prevailing wages due to the long lead time of play equipment manufacturing and delivery. These changes were outside if the original contract.
The scope of work consisted of removing and disposing the existing concrete flatwork, playground equipment, footing, sand, and rubber playground surface; performing site grading; installing new concrete sidewalk, curb, playground equipment, rubber playground surface, concrete benches, and all appurtenant work in connection therewith.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total construction cost, in the amount of $496,642.62, for the contract with Western State Builders, Inc. is budgeted in the following accounts:
• Account Number, 16510-162101, “Sigler Park Playground & Splashpad Improvements (CDBG)”, in the amount of $340,292.
• Account Number, 76502-762205, “Sigler Park Playground Equipment”, in the amount of $156,350.62.
LEGAL REVIEW
The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.
CONCLUSION
The contract has been satisfactorily completed by Western State Builders, Inc. The next steps are to accept the subject project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder’s Office.
