BACKGROUND
Pursuant to Section 2.04.010 of the Westminster Municipal Code, the City Council regularly meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Periodically, the staff reviews the City Council meeting calendar for potential conflicts with holidays, City Hall closures, and requirements for approval of business transactions.
Based on upcoming holidays and a review of scheduling conflicts, staff recommends the following meeting revisions for 2025:
• Cancel the Regular Meeting of April 23rd due to a scheduling conflict with the League of Cal Cities Leadership Summit.
• Cancel the Regular Meeting of May 28th due to the Memorial Day closure.
• Cancel the Regular Meetings of July 9 and 23 (1st and 2nd meetings) for a summer recess.
• Cancel the Regular Meeting of October 8th due to a scheduling conflict with League of Cal Cities Annual Conference.
• Cancel the Regular Meeting of November 26 (2nd meeting) due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
• Cancel the Regular Meeting of December 24 (2nd meeting) due to the Christmas Eve and holiday break closure of City facilities.
Upon approval, the City Clerk’s Office will proceed with noticing as required by State law, as well as updating the City’s website calendar. As long as Brown Act noticing requirements are met, canceled meetings can be reversed and held if there is business to be conducted. Special meetings can also be called to conduct urgent business as necessary.
