BACKGROUND
The existing waterlines in Siskiyou Street currently exist in a dead-end alignment. In order to improve water quality, the subject project proposes to install a loop waterline system by connecting the two existing dead-end waterlines.
GHD has previously completed multiple successful waterline design projects for the City. Staff selected this design firm for the subject project based on their capabilities and best approach. GHD completed a similar design for the Ward Street Waterline Project, crossing over an existing Orange County Flood Control District (OCFCD) channel. Similarly, the subject project will also involve crossing over another OCFCD channel on Siskiyou Street.
GHD is currently in the process of completing the feasibility study for a new water well due to the decommissioning of Well No. 6, in the amount of $39,231. Pursuant to our Municipal Code 3.44, allocating funds over $100,000 requires the approval of the Mayor and City Council. Approval of the subject agreement for the design of the Siskiyou Street waterline project and the water well feasibility study would bring the total allocation for GHD to $135,403 for this fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the Engineering Design Services Agreement with GHD in the amount of $96,172 for the subject project is available in Account No. 55502-552400, “Citywide Waterline Improvements.”
LEGAL REVIEW
