BACKGROUND
This crime statistics report covers the first quarter of 2025 (January through March), compared to the same period in 2024. Overall, crime decreased by nearly 12% compared to the first quarter of last year. Notably, all categories of violent crime declined, with an overall reduction of 25%.
Property crimes also saw a decrease of nearly 10%. The only increases were in burglary and arson. However, arson incidents rose by just one case, which is not considered a significant change. Burglaries increased by 5.5%, and while various factors may have contributed to this uptick, it is believed that a single individual-currently in custody-may be responsible for a significant portion of these offenses.
