BACKGROUND

The Homeless Outreach Team was established to address homelessness in our community through a collaborative, service-oriented approach. The team is composed of four Homeless Liaison Officers and two dedicated case workers. Together, this multi-disciplinary team works to engage with unhoused individuals, connect them with essential services, and assist them in transitioning to more stable living situations.

During the first quarter of the year (January through March), the Homeless Liaison Team has made significant strides in outreach, service coordination, and community engagement. Key accomplishments include:

•                     Outreach and Engagement

The team conducted over 711 outreach visits to known encampments and areas frequented by unhoused individuals. These visits focused on building trust, assessing needs, and offering services.

•                     Referrals and Service Connections

The team made 16 referrals to local shelters, housing programs, mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and other support services. Several individuals have been successfully placed in temporary housing or treatment facilities as a result.

At this time, all Westminster beds at the shelter are full.
