RECOMMENDED ACTION
Recommendation
Accept the subject project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Clerk-Recorder’s Office.
endBACKGROUND
The subject project is funded by ARPA funds and was awarded by the Mayor and City Council on October 23, 2024. The contract has been satisfactorily completed by Carmody Construction Company. The original bid amount was $218,010, and the final contract amount was $236,873, which is 8.7% higher than the original contract amount. The additional cost is attributed to the extra work for the installation of a new water heater, roof sheathing, rain gutter, and repairs to the exterior siding of the blacksmith building.
The original scope of work consisted of:
• Removing and replacing a portion of the existing ceiling in the museum, roof over the barn, electrical enclosure for the museum; and
• Renovating the existing siding and paint exterior of the barn building.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total construction cost, in the amount of $236,873, for the contract with Carmody Construction Company is budgeted in the ARPA-funded Account No. 21500-212312 “Park Building Improvements at Blakey Park.”
LEGAL REVIEW
The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.
CONCLUSION
The contract has been satisfactorily completed by Carmody Construction Company. It is recommended that the Mayor and the City Council accept the subject project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Clerk-Recorder’s Office.
