BACKGROUND

Pursuant to Section 2.04.010 of the Westminster Municipal Code, the City Council regularly meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Periodically, the staff reviews the City Council meeting calendar for potential conflicts with holidays, City Hall closures, and requirements for approval of business transactions.

Based on upcoming holidays and a review of scheduling conflicts, staff recommends the following meeting revisions for 2026:

•                     Cancel the Regular Meeting of May 27 due to the Memorial Day closure.

•                     Cancel the Regular Meetings of July 8 and 22 (1st and 2nd meetings) for a summer recess.

•                     Cancel the Regular Meeting of September 23 due to a scheduling conflict with the League of Cal Cities Annual Conference and reschedule the meeting as a Special Meeting on September 30.

•                     Cancel the Regular Meeting of November 25 (2nd meeting) due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

•                     Cancel the Regular Meeting of December 23 (2nd meeting) due to the Christmas Eve and holiday closure of City facilities.

Upon approval, the City Clerk’s Office will proceed with noticing as required by State law, as well as updating the City’s website calendar. As long as Brown Act noticing requirements are met, canceled meetings can be reversed and held if there is business to be conducted. Special meetings can also be called to conduct urgent business as necessary, which has been done historically.
