RECOMMENDED ACTION

 

Recommendation

Accept the subject project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Clerk-Recorder’s Office.

BACKGROUND

 

The subject project was awarded by the Mayor and City Council on August 14, 2024. The contract has been satisfactorily completed by R.E. Schultz Construction, Inc. The original bid amount was $294,824, and the final contract was $298,610 due to additional concrete sidewalk improvements.

 

The scope of work consisted of:

                     Removing and disposing of the existing concrete flatwork, playground equipment, footing, and sand; and

                     Performing site grading; and

                     Installing new Portland cement concrete sidewalk, curb, playground equipment, rubber playground surface.

 

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT

 

The total construction cost in the amount of $298,610, for the contract with R.E. Schultz Construction, Inc., is budgeted in the following accounts:

 

                     Account Number 16510-162301, “Playground Replacement Tony Lam Park”, in the amount of $182,097.

 

                     Account Number 76502-762503, “Tony Lam Park Playground Renovation”, in the amount of $116,513.

 

LEGAL REVIEW

 

The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.

 

CONCLUSION

 

The contract has been satisfactorily completed by R.E. Schultz Construction, Inc. It is recommended that the Mayor and the City Council accept the subject project and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion with the County Clerk-Recorder’s Office.
