RECOMMENDED ACTION

 

Recommendation

Consider and approve the following proclamations:

 

A.                     Juneteenth - June 19, 2026; and

B.                     Parks Make Life Better Month - June 2026.

BACKGROUND

 

The City Council adopted a Recognition and Proclamation Policy at its regular meeting of September 14, 2022 (Attachment 1). In accordance with the policy, all proclamations must be presented to the City Council to approve under the Consent Calendar.

 

The following proclamations are being requested:

 

A.                     Juneteenth - June 19, 2026

B.                     Parks Make Life Better Month - June 2026 (requested by Community Services and Recreation Department)

 

Proclamation requests are received through the Office of the City Council or the Office of the City Clerk and are placed on the agenda for consideration by the City Council. Proclamations are not statements of policy or individual viewpoints, support or affiliation; recognition is from the City Council as a body. The City Council reserves the right to approve or deny a request.

 

Upon approval, staff will process the proclamation and coordinate presentation or distribution of the proclamation. Per the policy, if approved, the proclamation will be presented at the event, when applicable.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

 

There is minimal fiscal impact related to this item. Costs related to custom supplies such as proclamations, certificates, and frames have been purchased and funds were appropriated in the adopted budget. 

 

LEGAL REVIEW

 

The City Attorney’s Office has reviewed as to form.

 

CONCLUSION

 

Consider and approve the attached proclamations.
